What is the difference between the 5K, the Fun Run, and the Stroller Dash? Do registrants have to participate in all events?
Race participants only need to run in the event(s) they are registered for. Participants can register for one or more events.
The 5K race is a classic 5K distance with two water stops along the way. It’s a flat out-and-back course with complimentary cookies and milk to fuel you along the way!
The Fun Run and Stroller Dash is a 1K distance. Kids who enjoy running as much as their parents do can run the 1K and then refuel with cookies. Parents can participate alongside their kids and/or push smaller children in strollers. A fun way to start the day with the whole family! The 1K Fun Run and Stroller Dash will take place first (at 8:00 a.m. sharp), immediately followed by the 5K (at 8:30 a.m.). That way, families can choose to participate in both races!
How do I register for the race, and how much does it cost?
To participate in the CECPTA Community 5K, Fun Run & Stroller Dash, you can Register through Race Roster here: https://raceroster.com/events/2022/54905/cecpta-community-5k-fun-run-and-stroller-dash
Each “running” participant will need to register for their selected event. Each child racing in the 1K Fun Run will need a ticket. Each parent running alongside children and/or pushing a stroller in the 1K Fun Run and Stroller Dash will also need a ticket. Stroller riders who are not running (babies and toddlers) DO NOT need tickets. Parents ARE NOT required to run in the 1K Fun Run with their children. For parents who wish to participate in both the 1K and 5K, a discounted ticket option is available. Strollers are allowed in the 5K race at no additional cost. Discounts apply for early registration and for family groups of racers larger than four. Race tickets range in price from $15-$40. See Race Roster registration page for individual race pricing info: https://raceroster.com/events/2022/54905/cecpta-community-5k-fun-run-and-stroller-dash
When can I register for the race?
Registration is OPEN NOW, and we recommend signing up as early as possible! Discounted ticket options are available for early registrants. Walk-up registration is available, but please be aware that late entry and walk-up registrants may not receive their T-Shirts and swag bags until after race day. See Race Roster registration page for pricing info: https://raceroster.com/events/2022/54905/cecpta-community-5k-fun-run-and-stroller-dash
Can I walk the race?
Yes. However, the event will end at 10:30 a.m. If you believe you will require a 5K time over 2 hours, we suggest signing up for the 1K race option.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes, strollers are allowed in both the 1K Stroller Dash/Fun Run and the 5K race. Stroller riders do not need a separate registration. For runners wishing to participate in both races, a 5K and Stroller Dash bundle is available at a discounted ticket price. There is no additional cost for strollers in the 5K race.
Are dogs allowed?
Sorry, no dogs are allowed on the course. Also, since this is an event involving chocolate and cookies, it’s probably a good idea to have Fido sit this one out.
Are bikes/scooters allowed?
Feel free to ride your bike/scooter to the event, but please park it before you get to the course.
Are there restrooms on site?
Yes! There are outdoor public restrooms available for use on site. A hand sanitizing station will also be available outside the restrooms.
What is included with my registration fee?
Each registered participant will receive a super sweet T-Shirt and swag bag including free passes from our sponsors: Little Gym and F45. Please note that late entry and walk-up registrants may not receive their T-Shirts and swag bags until after race day.
Along the race path, cookies, milk, and water will be served at refueling stations. After the 5K race, the After Party will kick off with music, food, and various vendors from our community!
As a CECPTA Member Exclusive, members who register for the race will be invited to join our “Couch to 5K” private Facebook group, sponsored by Lily Qian, a longtime member of CECPTA and financial advisor with Equitable Advisors DBA LQ Financial. The “Couch to 5K” group will feature a race-training plan for members from now until Race Day and will include coordinated meetups to help members prepare for Race Day. The training plan is being led by Shaun Franklin, a local Certified Personal Trainer. All CECPTA members who sign up for the 5K, Stroller Dash & Fun Run will be automatically added to the exclusive Facebook group upon registration completion!
What cause am I supporting with the purchase of my race ticket?
All proceeds from the CECPTA Community 5K, Fun Run & Stroller Dash will go to support the Carrollton Early Childhood Development Grant to be awarded in the spring to a fellow early childhood organization, supporting their outreach activities for the community. We will also be highlighting our community partner, Denton County Children’s Advocacy Center.
What can my children do while I am racing?
While parents complete the 5K, preschool-aged children can participate in fun and engaging activities in the fenced-off area of the Josey Ranch Complex baseball diamond. Crafts and activities will be themed around promoting health and wellness. This area will be monitored by community volunteers but is not meant to serve as a babysitting service. Children participating in activities will need to be accompanied by an adult.
What happens when I finish the race?
Taco Suave food truck will be serving up breakfast tacos, and we will be having a dance party at the finish line! Following the race, Trinity Yoga will provide a cool down yoga/stretch for participants. Celebrate your 5K/1K achievement at the After Party with music, food, and vendors from our community! Enjoy freebies, sales, and giveaways from our Sponsors and Vendors: F45 Gym, Magic Smile Dental, D&J Roasters (coffee!), and Carrollton Nutrition! Festivities will conclude at 10:30 a.m.
Will I receive an award?
All 5K participants will receive a finisher medal, and special awards will be given to racers placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. All Fun Run participants will receive a special ribbon.
Where can I share race photos?
We would love to see all those special moments captured from race day! Please share publicly on your social media platforms, using the hashtags #CECPTA and #runwithcecpta so we can find you!
How can I volunteer?
If running isn’t your thing, you may sign-up to volunteer with us on Race Day! Email Molly Salomon & Arianna Feinberg at cecptafundraising@gmail.com
Can I get a refund?
This is a rain or shine event!
There will be no refunds.
What steps are you taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of participants?
As an organization based in community, we hold the safety of our participants, volunteers, and attendees above all else. To ensure our event is as safe as possible and to make you comfortable both on and off the course, we’ll be implementing enhanced safety measures, encouraging social distancing, and promoting the use of masks. We also ask that anyone experiencing a fever, cough, or other symptoms and anyone who has come in close contact with someone who is sick to please stay home. Hand sanitizing stations will also be available, located just outside of the public bathrooms.
