Kindergarten Readiness Event

Attention parents in Carrollton Farmers Branch Independent School District and Lewisville Independent School District!

Do you have a child going into kindergarten this fall or next?

Are you wondering if your child is really “kindergarten ready?” Maybe you’re a new parent, and curious about how to begin preparing for your child’s education a few years down the road? Or perhaps you are new to this area and not sure how to begin the enrollment process, or what local kindergarten programs are like? Are you thinking of attending a different elementary school or school district than the one you are zoned for, and want to learn more about them?

If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, then this is the event FOR YOU!

Carrollton Early Childhood PTA invites you to join us for a virtual Kindergarten Readiness event on Wednesday, April 21 from 9:30 – 10:15 AM.

This event will be held virtually over Zoom.

To attend, you must pre-register by filling out our registration form here:

Zoom link and additional information will be emailed out the night before, by 10PM on April 20.

We will have some amazing guest speakers joining us to discuss this important topic!

From LISD, we will have: 🖍    Heidi Veal, Early Childhood Literacy and Programs Administrator for LISD, vealh@lisd.net

And from CFBISD, we will have: 🖍    Yanet Cardoza, PhD, Director of Strategic Initiatives, cardozay@cfbisd.edu 🖍    Sandy Meyer, Coordinator of Early Learning, meyers@cfbisd.edu 🖍    Claudia Arizaleta, Coordinator of PreK Admissions, arizaletac@cfbisd.edu

They will each give a short informational presentation followed up by a Q&A session, so come prepared with any questions you may have and join in on the discussion!

If you’re like me and have never had a child going into kindergarten before, you may not even be sure where to begin or what type of questions to ask. Luckily, we put together a list of 9 Example Questions for you! Hopefully this list will inspire you, as well as, provide a helpful “jumping-off point” for many more questions and discussion topics.

  • Will my child’s school be offering a virtual learning option?
  • How can I help my preschooler transition away from naps?
  • How can I help my child to wake up on time for school?
  • Should I pack a lunch to send with my child? What about a snack?
  • Does the school have scheduled bathroom breaks? What if a child needs to go to the bathroom before the scheduled break time?
  • What is the student: teacher ratio for each class?
  • Will their class have Teacher Assistants?
  • How many Specials does each school offer?
  • How much homework can I expect my child to bring home?

Make sure you register for this amazing event! Not only will you get to hear from two wonderful speakers and have all of your kindergarten questions answered, but everyone who attends will be entered into our drawing for a chance to win a Kindergarten Readiness Basket!

This “Get Ready for Kinder” basket includes workbooks to help your child learn everything they need to know, plus many of the school supply items needed for your first day of school. It even includes a box of tissues which you can use for the school’s supply list, or keep for yourself as you send your little one off to their first day of school!

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make sure your child (and you) will be ready for kindergarten! Mark your calendars and REGISTER NOW to attend.
